Cork Click-Lock Floating Flooring
Cork Floating Floors are a system of cork panels which can be installed virtually anywhere without any of the intensive labor required to install other types of flooring materials. The prefinished panels utilize a locking system to click together without adhering to the subfloor. Installation is quick and simple over a variety of surfaces.
The cork oak tree is an evergreen oak tree native to southwest Europe and northwest Africa, with over 50% of the world cork harvest coming from Portugal. The tree forms a thick, rugged bark which can be harvested every 9 to 12 years. The harvest is done entirely without machinery and with minimal disturbance to the orchard. The harvesting of cork does not harm the tree and a new layer of cork regrows. Each cork oak lives about 150 to 250 years and can be harvested up to twelve times. The bark is ground into small pieces and pressed into wine corks, flooring, or other useful products. Darker colors can be achieved by baking the cork for varying amounts of time.
