Green Mountain Woodworks Big Leaf Maple
A stunning floor when you want to brighten up a space and spread light throughout. Big Leaf Maple has a pale champagne color with warm, almost pinkish undertones; not white and sterile looking like its eastern cousin. Big Leaf Maple is known for its figured, three dimensional grain; this wood is prized by the finest violin makers. Similar in hardness to American Cherry, its a great choice for light traffic residential applications. Green Mountain Woodwork's Character grade will have a natural look with tight knots, checks and some darker chocolate brown wood. Select grade will provide a more uniform, clean and modern look.

About the Manufacturer
Green Mountain Woodworks is a family of quality oriented craftspeople located in the beautiful Rogue Valley of Southwestern Oregon. Our mission remains the same today as when we were founded in 1998, to create the most sustainable business model for Northwest forestry we could, focused on two important points.
THE HIGHEST QUALITY
Green Mountain Woodworks is committed to producing the best quality, most unique line of plank hardwood flooring and butcher block countertops available today. From the forestry, all the way through to the drying and moulding of a perfect tongue and groove, Green Mountain products will be of the highest quality, on schedule and at a good price.
SUSTAINABILITY
Defined differently by different companies, here’s what sustainability means to Green Mountain Woodworks:
Regional: by depending on the raw materials (and people) in our region, we have every incentive to make sure the decisions we make strengthen the natural and human communities we are a part of. We don’t depend on materials from “other people’s ecosystems”. We don’t go looking for cheap labor overseas—so we don’t depend on energy policies to keep global transport cheap.
Non-Toxic Materials and Production: we develop products that don’t require toxic chemicals or processes.
Durability: manufacturing well made, high quality products that will last for generations.
Zero-Waste: efficiency at every step, our goal is to use every bit of the materials we select, and to leave what we can in the forest to build the soil for the next generation. Even our sawdust goes to local farmers and mushroom growers!
Forestry: respect for the forest, the trees and the communities that depend on them. That means making lasting products that will reflect the beauty of these materials at least as long as the tree did. And it’s also why we are a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified manufacturer, with preferences for FSC certified wood whenever the quality of available wood meets our standards.
Small Scale: keeps quality high, as everything from raw material to production and sales are based on long-term relationships. That is why we helped form the Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities Partnership (HFHC) based at the non-profit Sustainable Northwest in Portland.
