Refuge Conference Table
When Refuge expanded our showroom in 2008, we asked Brian Lindquist of Lindquist Craftsmanship to design and build our new conference table. Our only instruction was that bamboo plywood and Kirei be used, which Brian had become quite familiar with. We sent Brian out the door with these materials, full creative license, and no doubt in our minds that we'd entrusted the project to the right craftsman. We certainly were not disappointed; we invite you to come by our showroom to view the beautiful finished project and gain inspiration for your own.
About the Design Process:
In Brian Lindquist's own words: "In designing the Kirei/Bamboo Conference Table for Refuge, my first instinct and guideline was to let the natural beauty and uniqueness of these sustainable products speak for themselves. I didn't want, or feel any need, to incorporate any fancy or elaborate design elements into the piece as the materials truly create such style and appeal all by themselves. I felt as though overuse of additional details in the table would only make it look too busy and potentially deter from the natural beauty. My other guideline was to make the table look as sturdy, pure, and practical as the materials themselves are. That is why I chose to incorporate the exposed joinery and the grand proportion of the legs.
"Bamboo Plywood and Kirei Board, as well as the rest of the great, progressive products that Refuge has to offer, are a joy to work with and I appreciate any opportunity I have to do that... not to mention that rewarding feeling of goodness that comes with utilizing sustainable products and doing something good for our planet!"
